Mass spring systems are important in every day life from bungee jumping to the recoil spring in a firearm. It would be very important to know the attributes of these spring systems. For example knowing how far a spring will travel (amplitude) would be important for bungee jumping to know whether or not the mass (person) would hit the ground from a certain distance or not. Knowing how long it will take to travel that distance (period) and how fast this spring can travel that distance in a certain time (frequency) would help determine what the cylical rate of a firearm would be.
This project did not change my belief that trigonometry is important to help understand how the physics of mechanisms that we all use. This project helped me reanalyze information I learned in AP physics about oscillation in a algebraic way.
